Educating Citizens About Democracy & Voting
The organizations listed below work to educate the general public about the importance of voting, about their voting rights and how to exercise them, and about today’s threats to those rights. Many of these organizations also undertake broad public education about the principles and values of democratic participation.

Founded in 2018 by Stacey Abrams, Fair Fight Action “promotes fair elections around the country, encourages voter participation in elections, and educates voters about elections and their voting rights.” They organize collective efforts to expose and reverse voter suppression and mobilize voters.
National Conference on Citizenship

A nonprofit established after WWII, the National Conference on Citizenship advances civic life by bringing together leaders in the business of promoting civic engagement. These relationships have helped open the door to important steps, including reintroducing civics to classrooms and bolstering a network of civic leaders across the country.

Their "People Power Tool Box" offers tools for expanding voting rights, for fixing gerrymandering, for rolling back Citizens United, for exposing dark money, for fighting mega-donors, for creating a more inclusive capitalism and fighting student debt, and more. Their website offers success stories and a listing of organizations and experts offering advice and support.

Vote Common Good engages faith-oriented voters to change from “people of faith must support Republicans” to “good people of every religion vote for the common good.” In 2020, their National Bus Tour
traveled 40,000 miles, holding 90 events in 41 states. They also offer training to candidates
on connecting with faith-motivated voters.

Funded by more than 120,000 grassroots donations in 2020, the Voter Protection Project helped recruit, develop, and support candidates up and down the ballot in critical races. They endorsed more than 80 voting rights focused candidates and invested more than $1.3 million in the 2021 Georgia Senate runoff elections.
